[h.ero] Viper GTS - 01-03 (complete, uncensored, eng softsub, dual audio)[480p HEVC]
Uncensored, original encode from DVD source. This includes dual Japanese and English audio with English soft subs for the Japanese track, which is default.
Unlike some of the older encodes available, including from ASS-Hentai, this encode removes a lot of the obvious compression artifacts you see around the lines, without washing out some of the details like some others do. The ASS-Hentai encode is additionally oversharpened, whereas this doesn't change the sharpness much from the original. In this encode there are still some occasional rainbow and dot crawl artifacts that aren't playing nice in a few scenes in episodes 2-3, but those things are significantly reduced from the source and less prevalent than in other encodes. For example, check the magic circle at 12:33 of episode 2 in some other releases. More aggressive processing might do more harm than good. There's a 720p upscale that's floating around that's decent and likewise deals significantly with the compression artifacts in the source, but the file size is larger and it loses details in some scenes compared to this encode, on top of having noticeably the wrong colors.
There are styled English soft subtitles (.ass) derived from the official translation on the disc. I retimed it roughly to modern conventions and then edited a significant percentage of the lines. If you find any errors, please let me know.

Well, on the video side it's really more the filtering than the encoder/codec/settings. Though even for 480p anime, ~1000 kbps XviD is on the skimpy side so that plays a role.
btw I noticed some frames here and there on all the episodes that I think can be readily done better, so there may be a v2 coming with slightly different new encodes (so no patch). It'll be up next week sometime when my internet works properly again. If you see any typos in the script or any other issues, please let me know ASAP so those fixes can be implemented by then.
Lovely. It's always good to see old titles being released again in more modern formats and better encoder settings. I don't particularly hate Xvid/OGG/SRT format, but it's already outdated and we need something like this.
